Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

Did not use the computer for several days, and finally late tonight turned it on and the battery was still showing 100%. Played Nectaris for 15 mins (just to finish a campaign) and the indicator stayed at 100%. These cells appear to be really awesome.

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

I left it charging the whole night and after 9 hours it was on 90% -- 1st time I saw anything not divisible by 15. After another hour it finally reached 100% -- 1st time I saw that number :) So each 10% of charge with these new batteries needs 1 hour of charging. Extrapolating this, I spent 75% for ...

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

Well, that was quick. After another 15m of playing the machine died. It gave a plenty of warning before though and then it went into hibernation (did not lose any data -- it just suspended itself in the middle of the game and then resumed nicely once plugged in). So, I got the total of 210m of playi...

Re: Your favorite vintage non-palmtop computer?

I have several old computers and I like them all but I would have to go with Amiga 600. Small footprint but has everything. Mine has an internal CF hard and the ACA 020 accelerator with 10MB of RAM (I think) + 501n expansion giving it 2MB of chip RAM. Since it's ECS and fat agnus chip, it can boot t...

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

After another 60 mins of action the battery went down from 30% to 15%. It seems to me it only goes up or down in 15% increments. Sorry for this taking so long but on top of the work and family obligations I only get to play 1-2 hours max in the evening :) The next session should drain it completely ...

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

Played Nectaris for another 45 mins and the battery went from 45% to 30% so it is consistent with the previous session (45 mins = 15%). It's not clear to me whether 75% was the maximum (in which case the rebuilt battery will hold for 3h 45min) or if 100% was possible if I kept charging it longer (in...

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

Yeah, I discovered the F4 trick. Did not make much difference so far but I will do it once again when the battery is completely empty. Of course, Battle Isle I also like a lot. Will most likely revisit it after Nectaris. Nectaris is so raw and minimal though, plays almost like chess :) and I really ...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Yeah, I found several excellent sites that have many DOS and early Win games (abandonia too). It seems to me that making a serial cable is the better way to go about bootstraping. At least you know it "must" work and the terminal program is in ROM. The CF card solution is a lottery and req...

Re: HP Omnibook 800CT

So I charged it for 3-4 hours and could not make it go over 75% and the Omnibook's led was always yellow (green means >90%). Then I disconnected the power and played Nectaris for 90 minutes. The battery went from 75% down to 45%. If this means that 30% = 90 mins, then 100% = 300 mins (5 hours) which...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Thanks for all the effort you put in. Sharp PC-3000 is a nice machine but obviously very limited. I kind of explored and tested pretty much all i wanted to do with the SRAM card and the evaluation period of cardware. If I decide to do anything more serious, I will pay for the software and honestly 2...
