Sharp Mebius PC-NJ70a

Am I the only one who got this weird little computer?

Pretty cool thing featuring a color TFT touchscreen as the touch pad. Actually the touch pad is a complete linux PC.

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Hmmm, sounds like it's worth a try. I got this silver epoxy or "conductive silver". In germany it's sold as "Silberleitlack" - i like this one since it's just one component. Example: http://www.ebay.de/itm/KEMO-L100-Silberleitlack-3g-Leitlack-Leitsilber-Silber-Lack-Platinen-Repar...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Hi Cello, thanks for the kind words! Yeah it's that kinda "bootstrapping" problem, to pull yourself out of a swamp just by pulling the bootstraps. About the PCB - I would just get one that is a bit thinner. Then you could put "Silver epoxy" on it to make for the contacts, just pa...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

1. I need to rewrite that paragraph i think. The Sharp definitely will NOT boot from Flash or CF since it needs a driver to utilize these. Also if i remember right it will not boot MS-DOS 6.2 due to some BIOS limitations. I think it could handle DOS 5.0 though. I should play with it again before i r...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Yeah the win 95 CDs were infamous for not containing a boot disk (Thus you can't boot from the CD). A bit of a trick is to boot Windows 98 setup, quit setup and then just change discs. Another easy workaround is to just make a bootable USB stick (Or CD) with a tool like "RUFUS" and add the...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Sorry to hear about your problems. I have the old Windows 98 installed (before the "Second Edition") and never had any issues with SRAM cards. I would try Windows 95 since it's pretty fast to install. OSR 2.5 is imho the best and most stable version: https://winworldpc.com/product/windows-...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Hmmm, i checked and my Windows 98 is "pre SE", soo it is an older version. I did not have trueffs installed at all.Thinking about it - I think the later versions of trueffs didn't need the DOS drivers at all... Can you try to completely remove (or "REM") the drivers in config.sys...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Hmmm, maybe WIndows 98 doesn't have the Trueffs driver installed? Yeah the driver was intended for FLASH cards, but it also works like a charm with SRAM cards. On the Windows 98 SE CD it should be under "\drivers\storage\ftl" - just right click on "trueffs.inf" and pick "ins...
