I'd also suggest to check out local flea markets, garage sales, estate sales and such. The thing is that most people who sell an item on the internet check out something like ebay for prices first and thus often have rather steep ideas for a final price. People at flea markets and garage sales often have no clue besides it being old and so that is why you often make real bargains there.
